Jacob Tornholm grew up on a farm in Taylor County in Southwest Iowa. There he was actively involved in 4-H and took pride in showing market lambs at the county fair every year. Jacob learned the value of hard work and what it means to be a good neighbor from growing up in this environment.
After graduation from high school Jacob took a job working with troubled teens at a residential treatment facility in Clarinda, Iowa. It was here that Jacob learned of his passion for helping others and where he made the decision to pursue a career in the social services.
Jacob later moved to Iowa City where he attended the University of Iowa while also working fulltime at a Psychiatric Institution for Children in Cedar Rapids. Upon receiving his BA degree in psychology through the University of Iowa, Jacob and his wife moved to Williamsburg where they started their family. They have now lived in Williamsburg for over 8 years. Jacob is married to Erin Nicholson who is a director of a daycare center in Iowa City and a Grinnell College alum. Together they have two children Gillian and Lee.
